Organizing committee
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), a not-for-profit organization, is the international governing body for gymnastics. It is the longest-standing international sport federation (est. 1881) and has been part of every Olympic Games since the inception of the modern Games in 1896.
The FIG federates 142 national gymnastics organizations and is run by a 30-person staff at its international headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The FIG governs seven gymnastics disciplines: gymnastics for all, men’s artistic, women’s artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, aerobic and acrobatic gymnastics.
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships were first held in 1903 in Antwerp, Belgium, the FIG founder’s hometown. The most recent Championships took place in Glasgow, Scotland in 2015.
